“In November of 2015, I took a massive leap and left my corporate massage job to start my own practice. I’d been working in a popular five-star hotel in New York City, and although it paid incredibly well, it was so not me. There was a strict dress code for therapists, and we were expected to wear heavy makeup. It was a never-ending cycle of deep tissue massage in windowless rooms with recycled air, and I’d developed acute tendonitis and chronic headaches because I never seemed to get enough rest.

Living out on Long Island, my commute into the City was around 90-minutes each way. Most nights I didn’t get home much before 11pm, and when I did, I’d collapse on the couch with a glass of wine or two and a takeout or convenience meal — not exactly how I imagined how my life would be when I was at massage school.

On top of everything else, the atmosphere in the spa was absolutely toxic. The other therapists would constantly be moaning about the management, sometimes rightly so. Every now and then, corporate would step in and ask for feedback but nothing ever changed and the fact that they paid really well made it hard for anyone to actually leave. In my busiest year, I made $90K, plus health benefits, vacation time and sick pay. Eventually, though, I knew something had to give. I’d wanted to cut back my hours for a while so I could give my body a chance to rest and ease the tendonitis a little but when my manager told me it wasn’t possible and we’d review the situation again in a year (yes, a YEAR!) I realized I was done.

I was at rock bottom, burnt out, exhausted and deeply frustrated because I knew in my heart I could serve my clients way better if it weren’t for the hotel’s strict policies. We weren’t allowed to talk about lifestyle and diet and the whole big picture because the hotel felt that guests were only coming to us for a spa service, and that was that.

Soon after leaving the hotel I discovered Laura, and she gave me the strategies I needed to build up the massage business I’d started a couple of months before. I did everything she told me to do, and pretty soon I was fully booked on my terms, meaning I was seeing about 15 clients a week. Things were great, but I soon found myself falling into my old pattern of overbooking, overworking, going into my office on days I’d scheduled off and staying — everything I said I’d never do once I had a practice of my own!

It was around that time that Laura launched BodyMind Coaching, and as soon as she did, I knew I wanted in. I wanted to give my clients a more holistic view of stress, how it was affecting their bodies and what they could do about it. The BodyMind program seemed like an amazing program that would teach me how to take all my knowledge and skills and blend them together. I didn’t need to become a licensed health coach, trainer or yoga instructor — I could create one impactful BodyMind package.

By incorporating BodyMind Coaching into my work, I’ve now started to attract people who are ready and committed to their health. They’re people who want to be proactive, which is amazing because there’s nothing more frustrating for a massage therapist than working on the same thing with a client over and over again, month after month. I help my clients see that their actions have a long-term effect.

I’ve restructured my business so I get to spend plenty of time with my clients too. I’ve inflated my prices to accommodate the extra coaching time I’m providing, and I’ve created various packages, ranging from $497 to $8,999.

I hate to think about what life might have been like if I’d never have met Laura. I’m guessing I’d probably be stuck in that time for money trap and become burnt out all over again. Either that or I’d still be waiting for everything to be perfect before getting started. I used to think I needed to go to school and make sure my wall was full of certificates to prove that I was worthy of giving any kind of advice to a client. Now I know that I’m the person who connects people with the answers that their bodies are trying to communicate and I couldn’t be happier about it.”

“As a military spouse (my wife is a psychologist in the United States Navy) I was used to moving. But as a holistic business owner, moving town — let alone states — every few years came with its challenges. There was no consistency in my income, I was always in startup mode, and just when I’d finally built up a stable client list, we’d receive our next relocation order and I’d find myself back at square one, starting over yet again.

I was in the process of relocating with my wife and four kids for the fourth time when I discovered Laura via a Facebook ad. I watched her webinar and immediately scheduled a call to speak with her. I was actually stopped off at my father-in law’s house in Montana en-route to Washington State from North Carolina and had escaped to the garage for some peace to take the call.

Just a few minutes into our connection and I felt like Laura really got me. She could immediately see my business, my heart and what I was about. She was so present as I walked her through the future vision for my business, that by the end of that call, I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that I’d reach my next level a whole lot faster with her in my corner.

There I was in my father-in law’s garage, with four kids inside and everything we owned on a truck to some storage facility. I knew I was great at the work that I was doing. I knew I could arrive in Washington, start over yet again and build a loyal client base because I’d done it three times before. I knew I would be okay, but in my heart, I knew I was meant for so much more. I wanted to make an impact. I wanted to be a public speaker. I wanted to write a book. But I wasn’t exactly sure how to get there or what it would look like because I was forever stuck in survival mode.

As a military spouse with little control over where my family and I would wind up next, I’ve proved to myself that I’m limitless. With Laura’s heart-centered leadership I’ve built a location independent business and am no longer limited to simply serving clients hands-on in one geographical location. Instead, I get to travel the country, lead retreats and speak at events. I’ve combined my business, massage therapy, yoga and meditation skills and fused them all together to create customized experiences for my clients.

With this new way of working, I’ve more than doubled my income while simultaneously working way less than ever before. In fact, I’ve freed up twenty hours each week to work on personal projects and be present with my family. And you know what else? It’s magical for my kids to get to experience this journey too — to see their Daddy going after his goals and empowering other people to do the same.

I no longer feel unable to make long-term plans or have that feeling in the pit of my stomach that I used to get whenever I knew that the next relocation wasn’t far away around the corner. Building a successful, profitable, location independent business has made me lighter, and that feeling has permeated through all my relationships.

Laura has an uncanny ability to see through the noise and the confusion in my head and help me get directly to the root cause of whatever is keeping me stuck. Her support has saved me so much time and given me so much clarity that I may otherwise have battled with for months or even years. During every conversation and every interaction, she’s helped me move forward. She’s just the light that shines and I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that she walks her walk and talks her talk as well.
In the military community, there’s this preconception that spouses almost have to put their lives on hold until their partners retire but Laura has taught me that I no longer need to sacrifice my dreams. I can have a career I love, be present for my wife and kids and still reach my goals and make things happen.”

“Before finding massage, I thought I wanted to be a doctor and help people. “Before finding massage, I thought I wanted to be a doctor and help people. I had all these grand ideas about saving the world and saving lives but when I was pre-med, I had this nagging feeling that I was pursuing a career that would have me tied to a hospital 24/7 and give me virtually no time to spend with my family. I carried that feeling with me and even though I knew I could make great money as a doctor, ultimately I knew I’d be robbed of all my time to make that happen, so I completed my Bachelor’s degree but chose not to continue on to med school. It was a tough decision to make, especially as titles are so important to my parents but my choice felt very aligned. That’s when I turned to massage, only things didn’t turn out quite as I planned.

It’s very much my personality to go at something 157% and very soon, I was working six days a week, giving up to eight deep tissue massages a day and I was exhausted. I remember looking at my colleagues who’d been in the industry way longer than I had and thinking “I’ll never become a massage therapist with thirteen years of experience under my belt. There’s no way. I’m only 27 but I’ll literally keel over and die before I get there if I keep working at this pace.” Then I had something of an epiphany: What if I stopped working so hard? All my life I’d been pushing, striving and working as hard as I could to be the best that I could. I was tired of pushing so hard only to fall further and further behind. But what if that wasn’t the route to happiness after all? What if true freedom and happiness actually came from letting things be easy?

With nothing to lose, I began incorporating manifestation into my daily routine. I meditated on key words and phrases and asked the Universe to bring me a solution that would free up my time and allow me to live the lifestyle of my dreams. I also asked for a supportive community that would honor and respect my energy — a sacred container. That’s when Laura showed up. I’m usually pretty sceptical of people selling courses and programs online but my intuition told me that there was something about Laura which was different. It was like she was really inside my head and reading my mind, so I decided to make the leap. I clicked the button, filled out the application and scheduled a time to talk with one of the associate BodyMind coaches, Melissa.

My call with Melissa clarified for me that enrolling in the BodyMind Coaching Program was my best and most aligned next step. One of the biggest questions I had was about how much interaction I would have with Laura directly. I didn’t want to make the investment only to find out that the only connection I’d have with Laura would be via pre-recorded videos! When Melissa told me all my coaching calls would be with Laura, my ears pricked up. Living in Alaska can be quite isolating and it’s not always as easy to find “your people” out here, so when I heard I’d also get to spend four days at an in-person retreat with Laura and the other women in the program, I was in!

Looking back now, I don’t think I realized at the time how much I used to force things, but when I stepped inside the program for the first time, I found myself doing just that. Laura has set us a homework assignment and being the Type-A, A+ student that I was, I immediately completed it, then emailed Laura to say “This is too easy. I’m done. Give me something harder to do.” Naturally, she called me on it right away. She told me “I can give you lots of things to do. I can give you more homework. I can give you access to all the modules right away. But the reason you came to me and enrolled in this program was to make your life more easeful. So how about we work on that? Let’s start creating offers and programs right now that will free up your time and make life feel easier for you?”

Ever since, I’ve been taking deliberate steps to switch my mindset and undo the patterns of behavior that I had inherited from my parents. It’s been so interesting to observe how I treat myself differently, how I treat my business differently and ultimately, how I now look at life so differently. I always thought business had to be hard, life had to be a struggle and the only way to get ahead was this one-track ninety-degree vertical climb. Laura has completely revolutionized the way I see work and brought into sharp focus the things I value most. Now, instead of waking up at the crack of dawn having only had a few hours sleep, I get to sleep-in, take time for myself and I now work only five hours a day, max.

By combining my BodyMind Coaching skills with hands-on work, I’ve been able to raise my rates, reduce my client load and still make a great income. Best of all, by incorporating BodyMind Coaching into my practice, I’m attracting better quality clients — not just the people who have woken up with a pain in their shoulder and need a quick fix. My new clients understand that by combining massage with coaching, we can go way deeper than a simple hands-on massage and really dive into what their body is desperately trying to tell them.

With the knowledge I’ve acquired and the mindset shifts I’ve made, I’ll never go back to working an eight hour shift or working sixty hours a week and six days straight. Now, I have the freedom to set my own schedule, take time out to spend with my husband, walk my dog, hang with my friends and spend the afternoon knitting if that’s what I feel like doing. I’m not counting down the years until retirement so I can finally start living my best life — I’m living it now.

If you’ve been looking at the BodyMind Coaching page and wondering whether or not you should enroll, I can already tell you it’s the right decision. I know it’s an investment but the fear you’re feeling now is nothing compared to the fear of doing nothing. The lifestyle you’ve been dreaming of is right here, waiting for you!”

“When I left the U.S. Navy after spending ten years as a Russian Linguist and another five years as an officer in the Cyber Intelligence community, I had to start all over again as a civilian. Throughout my career, I’d endured significant traumas, so much so that when I eventually left, my military medical record was several inches thick and must have easily weighed over 25 lbs! It wasn’t that I was an ill person – I just had all these things building in my body that needed fixing and the crux of it all was stress. Only, I couldn’t see that when I was suffering from it.”

When I left the U.S. Only, I couldn’t see that when I was suffering from it.

I had become increasingly interested in bodywork and embodiment therapies as they’d helped me heal in the past but when I qualified and began working hands-on with clients in a spa, I fell right back into my old M.O. of overworking, overgiving and neglecting my own self-care. It was quick and my internal compass was like “Whoa! This is not where we wanna go again. We’ve been there, done that and we don’t want to go back!” The big difference this time around though, was that I was now working in a time-for-money business model and I’ve got to admit, it was shocking how little money was coming in compared to the number of hours I was working. So even though I was going against my better judgment, I began working additional hours to maintain the lifestyle I’d become accustomed to.

A year quickly passed and I found myself working six-day weeks on a regular basis. I worked every holiday and every weekend and I couldn’t take time off unless I could find someone to cover my shifts which was nearly impossible. I just couldn’t settle for that. I couldn’t fathom repeating this borderline cycle of poverty over and over again for the next 20 years. On top of that, I just couldn’t handle the injustice of our industry. Here I was, someone with a desire to help others and yet I was physically broken and teetering on the verge of poverty within a year because the culture of our industry sets us up to fail. I knew there had to be a better way. I knew that someone, somewhere must have figured it out and with nothing else to lose, I started asking the Universe for answers.

I often joke I must have manifested Laura because I kid you not, as soon as I started asking specific questions, she showed up. Instantly, I felt an energetic connection. I stalked her Facebook page and website for about a month and when I finally got around to watching her webinar, I bawled my eyes out the whole way through it because, here was the person with the answers that I’d been looking for. I turned in my application and had a call with Melissa, one of Laura’s associate coaches, who explained the program to me and invited me to join the BodyMind Coaching Program. In that moment, I knew in my heart and soul I was a firm “yes”. However,  at that point I was barely covering my bills and relying on tips to put gas in my car, so much so that I was always thinking “how do I impress this person so they’ll tip me more?” throughout the entire massage. It was just such a degrading experience for me, to feel like I was constantly grovelling. I was really honest with Melissa and I’ll never forget what she said to me next: “If you really want this, the money will show up.”

Later that night, I had a conversation with my partner about BodyMind Coaching and told him it was something I planned to do in the future, once I had enough money saved up for tuition. The next morning I logged into my online banking to pay a bill and saw that he’d deposited the exact amount I needed to cover my tuition in my account! I called Melissa, completed my enrollment and began working through the modules the same day.

The following month, I gathered with a dozen or more other bodyworkers for the in-person retreat that forms part of the program. As a yogi I’d been on several retreats but none of them compared to this experience. Spending a few days with Laura was more powerful and profound than all my previous yoga training put together. Full disclosure? On the first day of the retreat I was pissed. Being in a room surrounded by people who had all been dealing with the same shit I’d been dealing with for years stirred up my emotions big time and as we dug into the coaching, I was confronted with my truth: I’d been tolerating crap from life, from the people I worked with, from past partners, from my family and from society my entire life. I was so pissed I almost packed up and went home but something told me unless I was prepared to deal with my own emotions, I’d never be able to help others deal with theirs effectively either.

I left the retreat with the plan for my new coaching program and quickly enrolled three people into it, earning me back my initial investment and then some. It’s been such a gift to have the time and space to work with those clients at a deeper level, helping them get out of their heads, into their bodies and trusting that they already had their own answers. I opened my own office to serve the small number of clients I brought with me from the spa and now instead of seeing 30+ clients a week, I see just 5 and no more than one a day. Now, when those people come in, they feel like they’re my only client, and we have all this space to do a proper intake, do the bodywork and then they have a nice, gentle integration period where they’re not rushing out the door and I’m not bringing in the next client. It’s better for everyone.

Now my days are spacious. Instead of working six days a week and begging people to swap shifts so I can take time off, I now have time for my own self-care. I go to acupuncture once a week. I get a massage and go to the chiropractor every other week. I practice yoga and I’ve just started a graduate program in Health and Wellness too — something I would never have dreamed I’d be doing if you’d asked me a year ago!

One of the most important things Laura has taught me through The BodyMind Coaching Program is that I’m a person, before I’m anything else. Not just that but I’m a person with needs and if I’m not showing myself self-love and self-care, then my self-worth suffers as a result. Raising my own energetic vibration has brought about so many beautiful shifts. It’s changed my relationship with money, my relationship with my partner, my relationship with my stepdaughter, with my parents, my sisters, my friends. Everything has shifted because I now value myself so much more.

If you’re reading this and you’re on the fence about joining, I highly encourage you to ask yourself one question: What’s the cost of doing nothing? If you’ve read this far, something tells me you already know the answer!”

WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING
